I put my math skills to work and set the speed to 8.6 mph. During the first mile I had to speed up to 8.8 and then to 9.2 to compensate for the time it took the machine to reach full speed. Only 12.2 miles to go!
Hey guys! It's Cheryl even tho I come up as Eric vdg. Please don't be alarmed. I'm here because Nathan thought I was "too snooty" to get on. Not only am I not too snooty (grrrr) but I'm completely and utterly intimidated. You guys are flipping crazy. Why on earth would you CONSISTENTLY go out and torture yourselves?? Why not enjoy life and just hurt on Oct 3???? I don't get it. Sure it is a lot of pain, but it only hurts for a day...or maybe 2 or 3 or 4.
Kerry,
ReplyDeleteHow far did you go at that pace!
1 mile
ReplyDeleteI found out that if you slow down to a 9 minute pace, you can go for 6 miles.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in high school, I never could beat a 7 minute pace, even for one mile. I'd say you're in great shape for such an old guy.
Why 12.2? Why not 25.2?
ReplyDeleteyup, we would love for you to "die" with us on the marathon in october.
ReplyDeleteI made a mistake. It should be 12.1. My goal is a half marathon. If and when I survive, I'll decide whether or not to think about a full marathon.
ReplyDeleteStephen, try the treadmill. I haven't done any outdoor runs yet. I don't know how the sunshine will affect my pace.
ReplyDeleteI can go pretty fast on the treadmill, but I don't last long. Eventually, my arms wear out and I have to let my feet down on the speedy belt.
